I'm still here!

I'm still here, we've just been travelling a ton!! I wanted to post the comment from a reader for all to see (in case you don't actually go to the comments and read them yourselves.) Here is what an anonymous fellow JAG wife has to say.

"I'm an Air Force JAG wife too! I agree with most of what you said. I was so scared of what it would mean for my husband to join the military, but fortunately it has been a great blessing to our family. I, too, had a lot of civilians telling me that being an officers wife would mean entertaining, going to important functions and so forth. I have not experienced that one bit. As far as my husband liking the work: he likes the legal work. Unfortunately, he gets stuck with a lot of non-legal work as well. I'm not sure if that is the case with your husband, but it is something that my husband is tiring of. Anyway, things might change with our new assignment. He will be in 2 years in January, and next summer we will go to our 2nd assignment. Perhaps he will start to be able to specialize and enjoy the work more."

  1. That's my comment! Thanks for publishing it! I believe I belong to the same church (LDS) as you after reading your most recent post. It seems to be the thing to do in our church - being a JAG! There is another JAG in my husbands office that is also LDS. I realized that my last comment wasn't very specific about the non legal work that my husband has to do - but some of the things he's done are: being the project manager of a base wide fundraiser, having to attend a LOT of meetings that don't pertain to him or to legal stuff, write articles for the base newspaper, teach a writing class for people on base (this rotates between the JAG's), etc. It's not that he hates doing these things, it's just that he has to do all of these things on top of legal assistance (which is very time consuming), preparing for court, being in court, and other legal matters (like he was the legal person in charge of our base air show recently, and also the legal liason for the Air Force ball back in September). I guess we sound like a bunch of complainers, huh? Actually, for the most part he loves his job. He loves that he gets to work out during his work day, and he enjoys the camaraderie during the workouts. He loves helping people with legal assistance. We love the base we have been at these past 1.5 years. The pay isn't amazing, but it isn't bad either. We get great BAH right now, excellent health and dental benefits, cheap food at the commissary, and military discounts all over the place. Overall we have really enjoyed this experience.

  2. I am an attorney interested in JAG, and wonder if there are any male spouses of JAGS that are the primary care givers while thevJAG wife works
